We often hear people say “I’m in love”; “He/she is in love with me”; “I love you”; “He/She loves me”. That a person says he/she loves you doesn’t mean he/she truly loves you, true love is acted out.
When you love someone you wish the best for that person but these days people ask you to do something that would destroy you for them, they would say “If you really love me you would let me sleep with you”;
“If you really love me you will abort that baby”;
“If you really love me you would do as I say”;
“If you really love me you will buy me those things I requested for”.
Helloooooo! That is not love. Love is not selfish.
There is a difference between being in love and real love. Being “in love” is having strong romantic feelings for a person (it is a wonderful feeling). Often times we confuse it with real love.
“In love” gives with so much expectation; real love gives without expectations .
“In love” needs immediate satisfaction; real love is patient and willing to sacrifice.
“In love” wants pleasure and intensity; real love seeks to grow in trust and friendship. “In love” is a feeling.
Real love is an act of will. Anyone/Anybody can be in love, but only an emotionally and spiritually mature mind can really love.
Real love has a solid foundation because it is unconditional. “In love” has a shaky foundation because it is conditional.
